1.800 years ago, today’s city of Aalen was situated at the frontier of the Roman Empire. The border fortification of the Limes dominated everyday life. The army was both the biggest employer and largest key market. Therefore, everyday life in the settlement close to the frontier oriented to the garrisoned soldiers. While the guided tour you learn, how life at the limes was like for soldiers and civilians. And you get to know, where that large border fortification is still conserved and can be visited. Because the 550 km long Limes is a UNESCO world heritage site since 2005.
