1.800 years ago, today’s city of Aalen was situated at the frontier of the Roman Empire. The border fortification of the Limes dominated everyday life. The army was both the biggest employer and largest key market. Therefore, everyday life in the settlement close to the frontier oriented to the garrisoned soldiers.
